It shows up in how we abandon hobbies because they feel "done," how we restart diets and projects instead of deepening them, even how we scroll past interesting information because something newer just arrived. We're constantly trading the known for the unknown, often without noticing the trade-off: the skills we don't develop, the relationships we don't sustain, the peace we abandon chasing the next thing. What makes this observation sting is that some newness genuinely improves our lives. The real skill, though, is learning to distinguish between change that matters and change that's just expensive habit.
