The catch is the word "eventually," and whether you can survive the gap. What actually happens is messier. You build it, then you promote it, refine it based on feedback, build community around it, share it relentlessly, and sometimes then people come. The original insight assumes a kind of passive inevitability that doesn't match how attention works anymore. In a world drowning in options, being good is table stakes, not a guarantee. The real lesson might be flipped: if you build it and truly understand who needs it and why, then you can go get them. The romance of passive discovery still appeals to us because it means we don't have to do the harder work of actually connecting with our audience. But the people who succeed—whether artists, entrepreneurs, or creators—recognize that building something excellent is only the first half of the equation.
