Maybe that's leaving a prestigious job to build something uncertain, or pursuing an unfashionable career, or structuring your life differently than your peers expect. The loneliness isn't the point—it's the honesty. You stop performing for an invisible audience. The real insight is this: the crowd doesn't move much because it's busy maintaining itself. Individual movement looks like chaos from the inside of a crowd, but from a distance, it's often just clarity. Most breakthroughs in any field come from someone willing to be wrong publicly for long enough to discover something right.
