Everybody born comes from the Creator trailing wisps of glory. We come from the Creator with creativity. I think that each one of us is born with creativity.

Insight: You're born with creative power whether you ever make art or not—it's in how you solve problems, tell stories, or navigate relationships. Most of us spend years getting told there's only one "right way" to do things, slowly suffocating that original spark. Reclaiming it isn't about becoming an artist; it's about trusting your instincts again.

You're Already Born Doing It

We tend to think of creativity as something rare—a spark reserved for artists, musicians, or writers. But Angelou is pointing at something more radical: that making things, imagining differently, and bringing something new into the world isn't a special talent. It's woven into what it means to be human at all.

Think about how you actually solve problems. You improvise a meal from what's in your fridge. You find a new route when traffic backs up. You comfort a friend by saying exactly the right thing in your own way. These are all acts of creation, small as they might seem. The creativity Angelou means isn't about genius—it's about how you naturally move through life, adapting and shaping things to fit who you are.

The catch is that many of us have been schooled out of trusting this. We wait for permission or inspiration or proof that we're "good enough" before we try anything. But what if the real loss isn't failing to become an artist—it's forgetting that you were born already doing what artists do: making meaning, solving for beauty, turning raw material into something distinctly yours.
