Insight: We're taught to optimize everything—to squeeze value from every opportunity, relationship, and commitment. So when something doesn't feel right, we often push through anyway, telling ourselves we're being mature or disciplined. But there's real wisdom in recognizing when something is actively working against you, even if it looks good on paper. That misalignment—when your head says yes but your gut says no—is information. Maybe it's a job with good pay that leaves you drained, a friendship that always feels one-sided, or a habit you keep because you think you should. Letting it go isn't quitting; it's actually listening to what you've learned about yourself. The people who seem most at peace aren't usually the ones forcing themselves through everything. They're the ones willing to walk away from things that don't match who they are. The tricky part is that our spirits are quieter than our doubts and our ambitions. It takes real attention to notice the difference between temporary discomfort and genuine misalignment. But once you feel it clearly, holding on becomes the harder choice.
