Leadership and punching above your weight doesn't necessarily always have to mean gunboat diplomacy and bombing other countries into the stone age. It can actually mean leading by example, and helping other countries.

Real strength doesn't need to dominate

Most people assume leadership means having the biggest muscles or the loudest voice in the room. But there's a quieter kind of strength that often gets overlooked: actually getting results without needing to flex. When you help solve someone's problem instead of forcing your solution on them, when you admit mistakes before doubling down, when you build something lasting instead of just winning the argument—that's when people actually follow you. It takes more confidence, not less.

The tricky part is that leading by example looks slower at first. You can't point to it on a chart or announce it in a press conference the same way you can announce a victory. But watch what happens over time: people want to work with you, trust you with harder problems, and start modeling your approach themselves. It spreads. Meanwhile, the leader who only knows how to dominate? People follow out of fear or obligation, and the moment they can leave, they do.

This matters now because we're exhausted by people proving their strength by tearing things down. Real leadership isn't about being the biggest player—it's about being the one others actually want to follow willingly. That's a harder thing to build, but it's the only kind that lasts.
