Life can be wonderful if you’re not afraid of it. All it needs is courage, imagination… and a little dough.

There's something almost defiant in Chaplin's equation here. He's not saying life is wonderful if you're lucky or if you have everything figured out. He's saying it hinges on something you can actually control—how afraid you are. That reframing matters, especially when life feels heavy and the obstacles feel too real.
The "little dough" part is the honest bit people sometimes miss. Chaplin wasn't naive about money. He knew financial stress is real and paralyzing. But he also knew that beyond a certain baseline, the money stops being the main thing holding you back. What actually limits you is the fear that whispers you can't try, the imagination too tired to picture anything different, the courage spent apologizing for wanting something. We often blame circumstance when we're really just afraid—of failure, of looking foolish, of wanting more than we're "supposed" to.
The imagination piece is quietly radical. It suggests that the life you're living right now isn't just circumstance; it's partly the limit of what you've let yourself imagine. That's frustrating if you're stuck, but also weirdly liberating. The next move might not require new money or a new job. It might just require imagining something slightly different and finding the small courage to move toward it.
