Jonathan Edwards

Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) was an American preacher, theologian, and philosopher known for his role in the First Great Awakening, a religious revival movement in the 18th century. He is best remembered for his fire-and-brimstone sermons, particularly "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," which emphasized the sovereignty of God and the need for personal conversion. Edwards also made significant contributions to the development of American religious thought and the relationship between faith and reason.
