1858 - 1928
Emmeline Pankhurst was a British political activist and leader of the women's suffrage movement in the early 20th century. She is best known for founding the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1903, which employed militant tactics to advocate for women's right to vote in the United Kingdom. Pankhurst's efforts were instrumental in securing the passage of the Representation of the People Act in 1918, granting voting rights to women over 30.
