Omar Khayyam was a Persian mathematician, astronomer, and poet born in 1048 in Nishapur, Iran. He is best known for his contributions to algebra and geometry, as well as for his poetic work, particularly the "Rubaiyat," which features quatrains reflecting on the nature of existence and the human experience. Khayyam also played a significant role in the development of the Persian calendar.
