Do, or do not. There is no try. — Yoda
Do, or do not. There is no try.
Author: Yoda
Insight: We love the idea of "trying." It feels safe. We can try something and if it doesn't work out, well, we tried, right? No real failure. But this cuts both ways. When we treat our commitments as attempts rather than decisions, we're already halfway to not doing them. The person who "tries" to wake up early usually sleeps in. The person who "tries" to learn guitar practices sporadically. There's a psychological difference between attempting something and committing to it. The tricky part is knowing which things deserve full commitment versus which deserve experimentation. You can't do everything. But for the things that actually matter to you—the ones that keep showing up in your mind—half-measures breed half-results and frustration. It's not about being rigid or unforgiving with yourself. It's about being honest. Either this is something you're going to do, or it isn't. Once you know which it is, you can stop pretending and start actually moving.
