Nothing in life is worthwhile unless you take risks. Fall forward. Every failed experiment is one step closer to success.

Insight: We spend a lot of energy trying to avoid failure, treating it like a disease to be prevented at all costs. But this quote flips that around: failure isn't the opposite of success—it's the path toward it. When you think about the things you're actually proud of, they rarely came on the first try. The person who learned an instrument, started a business, or finally had a difficult conversation all collected failures along the way. They just didn't let those failures stop them from trying again. The phrase "fall forward" is the key insight here. You're going to stumble—that's almost guaranteed. But there's a real difference between falling backward (giving up, retreating, getting nothing from the experience) and falling forward (learning something, adjusting your approach, getting closer). Every awkward date, every rejected idea at work, every time you tried something and it didn't work teaches you something concrete for next time. The cost of that education is often lower than you think, while the cost of never trying is surprisingly high—it's called regret. The harder truth is that real safety might actually be the riskiest move of all. Playing it safe feels protective, but it can trap you in a smaller life than you're capable of living.
