Louis de Montfort was a French Roman Catholic priest and missionary born on April 31, 1673, in Montfort-sur-Meu, Brittany. He is best known for founding the Company of Mary and the Daughters of Wisdom, as well as promoting devotion to the Virgin Mary. Montfort's spiritual writings and teachings significantly influenced Marian spirituality, and he was canonized as a saint in 1947.
