Jaron Lanier is an American computer scientist, author, and musician, known for his pioneering work in virtual reality and as a vocal critic of the impacts of digital technology on society. He has written several influential books, including "You Are Not a Gadget" and "Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now," advocating for a more humane digital future. Lanier is also a founding member of the influential technology company VPL Research, one of the first to develop virtual reality software and hardware.
